Microstructure-based cleavage parameters in bainitic, martensitic, and ferritic steels

Multi-barrier cleavage models consider fracture which is characterized by a series of microscale events. One the challenges for multi-barrier strong variations parameters across different types steels. The source and magnitude have not been studied systematically. In current paper, corresponding to initiation at hard particle crack propagation overcoming grain boundaries are determined three bainitic steels, martensitic steel, ferritic using recently proposed model. It found that parameter depends on morphology composition, while boundary hierarchical structure. values present high degree consistency among five allows further application microstructure design control macroscopic toughness.
